Physical Symptoms of Stress

In his keynote speech on the "Changing Nature of Work - Stress in the Workplace", Professor Cary L Cooper CBE highlighted the following to be physical symptoms of stress.

  1. Lack of appetite
  2. Craving for food when under pressure
  3. Frequent indigestion or heartburn
  4. Constipation or diarrhoea
  5. Insomnia
  6. Constant tiredness
  7. Tendency to sweat for no good reason
  8. Nervous twitches
  9. Nail biting
  10. Headaches
  11. Cramps and muscle spasms
  12. Nausea
  13. Breathlessness without exertion
  14. Fainting spells
  15. Frequent crying or desire to cry
  16. Impotency or frigidity
  17. Inability to sit still without fidgeting
  18. High blood pressure
